If there’s one thing I’ve learned this season is that you really can use “anything can happen” in WPS. The Bean Town Breakers got their first win since Week 1 against the City of Brotherly Love Independence after going down 1-0. They came back to win 2-1.FC gold Pride faced a greatly improved capital of Georgia Beat, but still managed to dominate them, to put it nicely. And The freedom and Windy City Red star ended their engagement in a scoreless draw.
The first game of the week was FC gold Pride at Atlanta Christine Sinclair, with the help of Marta, opened the marking in the first minute of the friction lucifer to put pridefulness on top and set a new record for fastest end in the league after blasting a shot past hope Solo. In the 30th min Marta, with her speed, round her guardian to a long walk from Emmett Kelly O’Hara. Marta faked the guardian and solo out with a postiche shot, pulled the ball back to herself and unleashed a shot to the crossbar and into the end Four minutes later, Kia McNeil was sent off the friction match after trying to kicking the ball into the end flying in the air, and kicking Barnhart instead, departure the round a man down for the residual of the game “I came out for the ball and I didn’t really see her coming” said Barnhart of the collision “But she did come in cleats up and got me pretty good. It trauma when it happened but I’ll be ok.” In the 78th minute, Barnhart herself got an assist releasing a long punt, which Marta ran into, went one-on-one with Solo and beat her for her second end of the 24-hour interval In stop time Kelley O’Hara. from Fayetteville, GA, added her own end to make it 4-0. This support the pridefulness in first place with 25 points. and the round in 7th place with 6 points.
The Washington freedom and Windy City Red star played to a scoreless draw with plenty of chances. Erin McLeod, netkeeper for the Freedom, made 10 save to keep a shutout, while Jillian Loyden for the Red Stars made only 3. Windy City outshot the freedom 23-5. “Chicago played smart They played well and took vantage of our weariness and played the quick ball which worked against us,” said McLeod. who made ten save to earn her third skunk of the season “One thing we can take away was that we played hard the whole game We have had the disposition to give up the late end and we didn’t today I’m proud of the back line.” The first dangerous play, which came in the 18th minute, was a result of a walk from Cristiane to Ella Masar who shot the ball high from fifteen pace out for Windy City In the 35th minute, Allie Long fouled Megan Rapinoe, and Marian Dalmy took the free kicking for Chicago only to be punched over the taproom by McLeod. The chance were there for Chicago, but couldn’t get past McLeod, and the freedom were just a tired team with key participant having played trine game in a week, and were happy to have earned a point out of that friction match up.
Finally, the Bean Town Breakers were able to interruption a 9-game winless run since the first week of the season when they discomfited the freedom 2-1. On July 4th, the breakers defeated the City of Brotherly Love Independence twenty-one in a 2nd half rejoinder Amy Rodriguez scored the first goal of the night after receiving a walk fro Lianna Sanderson in the box, faking a defender out, and volleying a shot past Alyssa Naeher into the top left corner of the end in the 18th minute. A minute into the second half, Lauren Cheney equalized with her second end of the season, and her second since the season opener as well She received a cross and sent the ball over Karina LeBlanc, who was coming out to take the ball After about 40 minutes, Kristine Lilly came through for the Breakers, scoring the game-winner. Kelly Smith slotted a past to the right side of the penalization area, and Lilly sent the shot past an oncoming LeBlanc to give her squad the win Both team stay in the same muscae volitantes in the standings. Philly is now just quaternary point away from first place, while the breakers are in 6th place with 10 points, just quaternary ahead of the Beat.

July 28th, 2010UncategorizedEvery year Transparency International ranks nearly all countries in the world in its corruption Perceptions index . In 2009 the United States ranked . respectable nineteen out of 180. But within the United States there is considerable fluctuation Anyone who follows national news might make their own U.S. corruption Perceptions Index, with the sheer size of the scandal putt state like Illinois, Louisiana, and New York at the underside and seemingly happy places like Green Mountain State and IN at the top.
News land site The daily Beast conducted such . study for the fifty United States government states. They compiled information on public corruption, racketeering and extortion, forgery and counterfeiting, fraud, and misapplication from 1998 to 2008 and came up with . full ranking. New Hampshire came out on top with the best ratings. Tennessee takes the prize for most corrupt.
Like the CPI, the daily Beast ranking does not give much item on why different states landed where they did, although it does describe a “Recent Scandal” for each state. New Hampshire’s damning story is of two local men who were charged with mail and wire fraud . Some other scandalous account are of hodometer tampering and a woman who stole here? ex-husband’s checkbook and wrote herself $4,100 worth of bank check . There are also some surprises. Land of Lincoln is in fact one of the better-ranking states by the daily Beast’s measure, at number 47 of 51 . Apparently the Blagojevich saga only ran so deep.
Just like the CPI, ranking like the daily Beast’s are better for indentation neighbour against each other than comparing two very disparate entities. My own positive perspective of Vermont was apparently false, as Vermont ranked only 39 against New Hampshire’s crystal-clean number 51. But my home New York can be proud of its 24th place against only 21st for New Jersey. Washington State scraped by Oregon at 38th to 35th. South Carolina can self-praise its 9th place against North Carolina’s 5th. IN wins against Land of Lincoln 49th to 47th.
After the cost-of-living index is published , country representatives request meetings with those who put out the ranking in order to ask how they can move up the ladder Usually they are not looking at to move into the top place, but rather to surpass their main rival: Bulgaria vs. Romania, Algerie vs. Morocco, Lao People’s Democratic Republic vs. Kampuchea Such competition can spark positive action, leading to genuine change in hope of moving up those one or two muscae volitantes Do you think we can generate such positive competition here? Come on New York, you can beat Golden State next year!

July 27th, 2010UncategorizedIn Oct 2008 I attended the International Anti-Corruption conference On a double-decker from the hotel to a reception, I sat next to individual named Julian the Apostate the Apostate Assange. At the time, I did not know who he was. He told me he worked for a group called Wikileaks. which was not a wiki but rather a website where anyone can submit otherwise unpublishable information for publication Unlike a wiki, the information is verified. In fact, it is passed through a series of server in a series of country to make it legally unassailable. Wikileaks has been responsible for publicizing everything from Sarah Palin’s email to hard evidence of government corruption in Kenya, all obtained through anonymous sources.
Julian, whose picture appears in a Recent epoch economic expert article, spent the double-decker ride and longer more or less disputation that he and his colleague were the sole people at the conference who were doing anything serious about corruption The only way to expose corruption, he said, is to make information public that proves IT Anyone sniffing around the border was doing no more than that. There was no need to concern that the “wrong” information might be revealed, causing unintended consequences or unnecessarily damaging a reputation Wikileaks proceeds care of that. he said, by vetting all submissions. And isn’t it better that the information is out there to be used than buried by a select and self-interested few?
I argued in vain that all of us at the conference were contributing our bit to fight corruption, that a orbit of different anti-corruption method were required. I was also shot down when I called him a faultfinder contempt our somber topic, most of the conference attendee were generally optimistic that their work was changing the world Julian the Apostate was dark, depicting general iniquity at every crook He may have been optimistic, but only about counteracting the relentless wicked nature of human beings.
In direct contrast to the Economist, Julian would not admit that he had founded the company He vaguely indicated that there were several people involved and no one was directly responsible, just as their information was distributed in such a way as to make no bingle country’s Torah applicable. The country with the most generous Torah on freedom of information, protection of sources. admissibility of tap evidence, etc. are each given a piece of the pie
On 17 June Iceland passed a reform to its media Torah after consultation with Wikileaks. The reform, whose protection for rootage and journalist who might face foreign libel cause is considered the strongest in the world, was designed in collaboration with Wikileaks. The add-on of this law to the world’s mix of legal theoretical account will allow initiative like Wikileaks to further flourish in this globalized medium environment. But in the United States, land of bank check and balances, Wikileaks’ “multi-jurisdictional” theoretical account smacks of a want of answerableness and the trap of the “benign” dictator May they continue to have only the best interest of the world in mind and not make any trip along the way.
