Softball is a direct descendant of baseball game game , but differs from it in several ways, of which the top dog four are:
- The ball is always pitched underarm – in other words, it is released when the hand is below the hip and no further away from the body than the elbow – while in baseball game game the ball may be released in any position and is usually thrown overarm or sidearm at greater speeds.
- The ball is larger, softer , less dense, and heavier than a baseball.
- The W. C. Fields used for playground ball are normally smaller.
- The game is septenary innings long, as opposed to ennead in baseball game playground ball game tend to take between one and two hours to complete, as opposed to around three hours for most baseball game games.
Softball is said to be the most popular participant athletics in the United States. An estimated 56 million American will play at least one game of playground ball during a year and is played by both men and women.
Pretty Basic: playground ball is played on a smaller diamond than baseball, with a ball that is larger and softer and a bat that is slightly different in size and weight and can also be made of aluminum.
The ball is thrown by a participant towards an opposing team participant called a slugger who endeavor to hit the ball with a round, smooth stick called a bat.
Scoring is accomplished by the slugger hit the ball as far away as she can and then running game and touch a series of four marker on the solid ground called base before the opposing team’s fielder tax return the ball The slugger can stop play at anytime by fillet on one of the base if she feel that he cannot get ‘home’ safely. If the opposing squad can throw the ball to the contrabandist next base before he get there she is ‘out’ and no run is scored.
Rules of playground ball – Making Outs
In softball, a slugger is out if:- The batted ball is caught in the air.
- The batted ball is caught and thrown successfully to any base before a runner get there.
- A baserunner is tagged by the ball while off of a base.
- Three strike are called by the umpire.

June 27th, 2010UncategorizedLast week President Obama flew to Afghanistan to rally the troops before the upcoming offense in Kandahar He also paid . visit to President Karzai. According to the Associated Press, “The trip was intended to let Obama tell Karzai that he must business deal with corruption and cut the flowing of money from poppy production and drug trafficking that is sustaining the insurgency.” As if a quick flight to Afghanistan in absolute secrecy amid extremely high security concerns is a small price to earnings in the name of anti-corruption.
Perhaps it is. Afghanistan’s corruption situation does not appear to have changed much over the months since the fraudulent presidential election in 2009. The United States is hoping it is headed for the endgame in Afghanistan but this may require partnership with clean afghan government and not just Obama’s 30,000 additional soldiery Any country’s problems can only truly be solved by its own people, but in Afghanistan’s case the specific problem of outlaw elements infiltrated into the public and buck private sector means that the people pull the string section are not those on the Americans’ side .
Obama’s trip gives a powerful message that fighting corruption is a precedency for the administration, at least in Afghanistan. That message may not have come across. Karzai has his own battle to fight at home, and the United States’s anti-corruption agenda is likely a low pressure priority As Karzai play to the house servant crowd with accusations such as that the United States was the culprit of last year’s election fraud, the Obama administration may wish it had rigged the election a bit more securely.

June 25th, 2010UncategorizedAs . write this, British elector are going to the polls in what has been billed as one of the most exciting Great U.K. elections of the post-war period gouge Clegg, member of the third party liberalist Democrats, could overtake his mainstream competition Gordon Brown and David Cameron . Regardless of the outcome, this is the kind of run that inevitably brand you think hard about first-past-the-post systems.
Britain, like the United States, chosen the members of its legislature through the infamous system in which whoever get the most votes, wins. This has begun to look anachronistic in face of today’s global preponderance of scheme of proportional representation, in which smaller political party have more than a scrap chance at law-makers seats While American may look at the engagement over forming a alinement in place like Yisrael or Al-Iraq and think the stableness and governability of our system eclipse its disadvantages, it is hard to deny that having only two dominant political party bound voters’ internal mental representation and government accountability.
Katrina vanden Heuvel wrote an interesting op-ed in the Washington Post last week, saying that Clegg’s rise in Britain should make us think on this side of the pond as well clegg has proposed far-reaching reform to the electoral system that could seriously disrupt the electric current party system there.
The liberalist Democrat have in fact had more representation than third political party in the United States, which have not gained any noticeable adhesive friction in the modern United States Congress The fact that running as an fencesitter is preferable to joining a third party certainly distinguishes our two legislatures. Another major difference is that third party clegg could be head of government, a effort basically unimaginable in today’s United States government politics. In the absence of major convulsion that disrupts our entire political system, the United States is unlikely to see an American clegg in the presidential race any time soon. Sir John Ross Perot and Ralph Nader served the purpose of stirring up the debate more than presenting a viable choice for the presidency.
This substance because we all know how stagnant the political debate can become when there are only two voices. If the entire political spectrum is divided into just two parts, political party rarely have to challenge established norms. This foliage them less accountable to the elector that put them in office, and instead free to select just a couple of briny issue to fight for while going the rest unchanged. That benefit no one but the people in power
And so, in the next election, when some third party campaigner is feeding into your majority-party’s share of the votes, endeavour reveling in your opportunity for choice rather than bemoaning the spoiler.

June 23rd, 2010UncategorizedWe’ve been eagerly anticipating the release of PUMA’s new line of city bikes and they’re finally available online and at select dealers.
PUMA motorcycle pull together the best, most practical parts of city and protein folding bikes, BMXs, American cruisers, and fixies to create a whole new urban typology.
The motorcycle were designed by the Danish capital based company Biomega and Jens St. Martin Skibsted. There are and five different theoretical account but when you factor in all the colors and size available, there’s at least 120 configurations. Flashy against the gritty city cougar motorcycle boasting bold face colour combinations. From lemon yellow to funky fuchsia to ocean-glass turquoises, the colors are inspired by vibrant island colour and defy the expected.
The new PUMA motorcycle are named after island in the Atlantic Ocean. This method is grounded in the Trans-Atlantic inspiration behind the bikes’ design, where smart and practical European design meets laidback, urban American style.
The Pico, named after an island in the telephone exchange Group of the Portuguese Azores, looks a tidy sum ice chest than most protein folding bikes, thanks to a compact, BMX-style framing $695:
Nevis Lady is a city cruiser with an easy, vertical posture, $725. . Nevis Island is an island in the Caribbean Sea Sea, located SE of Puerto Rico.
Funk, named after a small island northeast of Wesleyville, Newfoundland, Canada, is modeled after the fixed-gear bike favored by two-wheeled hipsters, $860:
And Disco, Biomega’s first breakout hit for Puma, $970. is named after a large island in Baffin Bay, off the west coast of Greenland. This bike features an integrated cable lock in the frame. It’s structural rigidity depends on the cable; if a stealer cut it, the bike can’t be ridden.
Wonder if they’re looking at for mental testing driver for these sweet, colorful rides?

NHRA driver Courtney Force documents her summertime on the drag-racing circuit in an online blog for U.S.A. TODAY.This week sisters Courtney, Bretagne and Ashley were part of a race car-themed awarding ceremony at the Rio de Janeiro Vista elementary school in orange County. The retarding force automobile driver were asked to help pass out the awarding to the students who had succeeded in the reading competition throughout the yr These reading competition had been theme to racing with the various reading group being their “pit crews.” The gymnasium was even decorated according to theme.
The Force sisters brought some of their our own props – including die-cast cars, fire suits, helmets, and all other safety equipment – and got the chance to speak to the students about the importance of staying in school and how much it could have an impact on their future careers.
It’s always fun to introduce the NHRA to those who are unfamiliar with it and the young lady passed out signed hero cards and presented the students with gold, silver, and bronze medals.
After spending a day with the students, Courtney was back to towing around the parking wad in the funny Car working toward her own personal end in life She then head down the street to Cal State-Fullerton to take an English writing exam she need to pass in order to alum in the fall Her exam theme was on her personal feeling toward group projects. Group projects are kind of like teamwork on a race team and everyone knows there’s no “I” in Team!
Courtney says:
I believe that if everyone on a squad is passionate about what they do and are volition to put forth an effort, then you can achieve your ultimate end Without my crew guy and my family, I wouldn’t have the chance to say we’ve achieved winning a national event. I’ll never forget that day last July when my win light came on in Seattle and they handed me my first Wally. My squad is very important to me and we support each other all through race day.
Stay tuned to find out what else Courtney is up to this summertime and be sure to follow her on chirrup @courtneyforce.
