Three cities have paid sick leave laws and many states are moving in that direction. With millions of workers lacking paid sick leave or care-taking time, Linda Meric says federal lawmakers need to act now.

Interestingly enough, this beer was actually called, The Kronic until the Feds stepped in and forced a name change, hence the new name, Censored. It is brewed by the Lagunitas Brewing Company in Cali and is classified as an American Amber Ale on Beeradvocate.com. I picked this six-pack up at the ABC Fine Wine & Spirits in Kendal.

The first beer was a bit disappointing as it poured with no head and left no lacing, but it was cold as hell. I let the second one warm up a little before I opened it and that one gave almost 3 fingers of head which fizzled down rather quick to leave some scant lacing. I've noticed temperature affecting the beer before (head, flavor, etc) so I have acted accordingly and turned the thermostat up a notch in the beer fridge. An ice cold beer is great when you just washed the car or mowed the lawn but some beers, like this one, taste so much better a little warmer (relax, I'm only talking 5-10 degrees here, nothing drastic like room temperature).

It is a lovely copper color, and you can smell the caramel malts right away. You can taste them right away, too. There's a little something citrusy in there as well. Kind of a thin mouthfeel though, with a bitter, dry, hoppy finish and a not unpleasant aftertaste that will stay with you for a while. It's not IPA hoppy but it might be more hops than some people may like... definately hoppier than one would expect an American Amber to be. It also has a slightly higher than normal abv (alcohol by volume) at 5.9% so consider yourselves warned...

All in all, it's a tasty, well-made beer. Its not exactly my style but this glass is definately 1/2 FULL and I'm sure alot of people out there would rate it even higher. Cheers!

Summer is nigh which means its time to get the skimpy clothes out, head to the beach and enjoy the sunshine; that's if this year's British summer won't be a wash-out. As a result Selfridges has launched a new type of Bikini aimed at the top end of the market. Dubbed the bling bikini because it features 5,000 hand-embroidered Swarovski crystals in tones of ruby, sapphire, emerald and gold, it costs a staggering £2,000 and is designed by fashion label Pistol Panties.
With the recession biting hard one would think this was a bad idea however Selfridges has announced there is high demand and has already set up a waiting list for the bikini. Look out for it on a WAG in the near future.

Video entertainment will always be lacking if the proper sound to complement them is absent. And perhaps this is why Magix has released a pack that contains various sound files for use by video editors when the time comes that they will be dubbing sounds along with videos.

One look at these Hermes bags and the word that springs on mind is... HOT! But hang on, beyond that Hotness lies some crazy rumor that Hermes had to start farming crocodiles to keep up with demand... Hmmm! I wonder what PETA thinks!!! In any case if you are one to wear fashion on your body and not on your heart... these beauties or rather crocodile leftovers retail for about $50,0000 and upwards. The waiting list is also over a year we are told.

In today’s “Health Journal” column, Melinda Beck reports that many people who think they are getting enough shut-eye may actually be getting poor quality sleep, with not enough of the restorative phases. The REM, or Rapid Eye Movement phase, in which dreaming occurs, is crucial for preserving memories, learning, creativity, problem solving and emotional balance, while deep, or slow-wave sleep, when the body releases human growth hormone, is necessary for physical development and repair. However, both of these sleep phases decline with age and are vulnerable to disruptions, including caffeine, alcohol and anxiety (which can even include anxiety about lack of sleep).

How do you know if you haven’t gotten enough restorative sleep? One tip-off is if you have trouble waking up in the morning and feel excessively sleepy during the day. Other signs of sleep deprivation: mood changes, difficulty focusing or remembering and a chronic need for caffeine.

There’s also a new way to get more insight into your sleep. Ms. Beck tested a new home sleep monitor called the Zeo Personal Sleep Coach that lets people track their sleep patterns nightly in their own bedrooms, for $399. You sleep wearing a soft headband with sensors that monitor your brain waves and send signals wirelessly to a device that displays whether you are awake or in light sleep, deep sleep, REM sleep mode, in real time, all through the night. The Zeo stores the information on a memory card that you can upload to a Web site, which helps track your sleep patterns and sends daily coaching tips for getting better sleep.

Ms. Beck reports that lost sleep can take a toll, raising the risk of cardiovascular disease, depression, diabetes and obesity, as well as impairing cognitive function, memory and the immune system– and causing some 100,000 motor vehicle accidents a year.

There are plenty of behavioral changes that people can make to help bring about deeper sleep. For starters, try not to drink caffeine in the afternoon and evening. Also reduce noise, light and interruptions (like pets) in the bedroom and try to “power down” before bedtime with no email, Internet, cellphones to help relax before falling sleep.

Fresh off from gracing almost 50% of the pages of the "Armani Times" released in London today in conjunction with the London's Evening Standard newspaper, David is now featured in a series of new Armani adverts holding on to a rope while sporting a new and interesting hairstyle... all we have to say is that Vicky is one lucky bit#h!!!

    Livia Lancelot

Frenchwoman Livia Lancelot wrapped up her first overall win at home track Ernee in great style, with the Championship leader dominating both moto’s and topping the podium from Stephanie Laier and Larissa Papenmeier.

Lining up for moto two after yesterday’s dominant performance, pole sitter Lancelot got another good start to move past Laier on the outside of the first corner. The Kawasaki Racing rider pushed hard from lap one to get rid of Laier and celebrate a well deserved home victory in front of a massive cheering crowd. This triumph saw Lancelot build on her Championship lead as the defending Champion aims at grasping her second World Crown this year.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Laier settled for second to take another podium with second overall while German compatriot Papenmeier crossed the finish line in third more than 20 seconds after Laier.

The result handed Laier the second place on the podium while Teka Suzuki Europe World MX2’s Papenmeier was third overall, with the two being level in points. Though in two weeks  (June 21st) the Germans will be hungrier than ever in front of their home crowd at Teutschenthal where they hope to close in on Lancelot-the trio is spread in 37 points.

Taking another fourth, Kawasaki Elf Pfeil’s Maria Franke was fourth overall ahead of Marianne Veenstra.
